SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM
With successful pilot program on Meatless Friday (Good Food for All) in 2021, CATALYST and the Office of Basic Education (OBEC), Ministry of Education, has expanded Meatless Friday to 50 more schools in 5 regions of the country. We mobilize the vegan movement by providing online training for teachers, school administrators and vegan education and empowerment for students through youth leader development, camps, and student clubs from 1st July 2022-1st July 2023 in Thailand.
We conducted the online 20-hours National Training on Plant-based Diet for additional 527 teachers this year. The training focuses on the benefit of plant-based diet to health and environment with some negative consequence of animal factory farming. We additionally provide an online cooking class and standard menu options derived from student food tasting. (Total of 1937 teachers have been trained since January 2021). Certificate of training completion from OBEC can be used to upgrade teacher academic status and as part of salary promotion.
